Thank you very much for your comment, Michael. QuickTime is a necessary component of HUE Animation and the current software doesn’t run unless it’s installed.

As it took Apple such a long time to formally announce that they would not be supporting QuickTime any more on Windows platforms, our engineers are still reacting to the news and working on an alternative. We plan to have a new solution in place soon and if you’d like we can email you directly once we have the details ready. We will also be making a news post once our engineers have advised how long it will take to complete the alternate version. It’s a major update but one we feel is necessary to be able to continue to support our users.

In the meantime, we recommend keeping security/antivirus software up to date and avoiding any suspicious email attachments or website links, as all of the published security flaws rely on visiting a compromised link or downloading a compromised file before QuickTime is at risk. This advice applies regardless of having QuickTime installed – there are similar exploits for Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet Explorer, among other popular applications – but we want our users to feel safe and confident using HUE Animation as the situation develops.

Please be assured that this is our highest priority at the moment for our Windows customers.

(This only applies to Windows users; the Mac OS X version of QuickTime is still under active development by Apple and unaffected by the recent announcement.)

The US Department of Homeland Security has recommended uninstalling it. I did so and now the Hue Animation program won’t work. Do you know of a fix for this?
